We believe everyone should have access to safe deprescribing, and we can’t do this on our own. We offer memberships and resources that enable your Outro provider to safely deprescribe your medication, via a platform optimized for your convenience and safety.
Our evidence-based methods are based on neurobiology, and designed to minimize withdrawal symptoms from antidepressants.
We understand the difference between withdrawal and relapse, and help you build strategies for sustainable well-being.
Traditional tapering guidelines often suggest large, equal steps based on the starting dose of your medication. For example, you are informed to cut your sertraline in half over 4 weeks to go from 50 -> 25 -> 0 mg—25mg being the smallest available dose.
The problem with this approach is that not every milligram is made equal. Going from 50 to 5 mg of sertraline has approximately the same effect on your brain as going from 5 to 0 mg!
Outro’s tapering plans follow this hyperbolic curve, decreasing your dose in small steps, in accordance with its effect on the brain. This method was pioneered by our co-founder, Dr. Mark Horowitz.
Comprehensive evaluations and ongoing symptom tracking ensures your tapering plan is personalized to you, from start to finish.
All plans are grounded in hyperbolic tapering, basing your journey on the way dose reductions affect your brain.
Compared to the current standard of care, our thoughtful, evidence-based approach is designed for a sustainable discontinuation—no more on-again, off-again.

Antidepressant discontinuation is a serious process that demands specialized knowledge and attention. Grounded in first-hand experience and the latest scientific evidence, Outro's services provide the personalized guidance, support, and tools you need to minimize disruptive withdrawal symptoms or relapse, and break the on-and-off cycle that is often a result of tapering too quickly and without a proper understanding of withdrawal.
Prescription costs are not included in Outro's membership fee. However, compounded medications are often covered by private insurance.
Virtual care, also referred to as telemedicine or telehealth, is a modern healthcare delivery method that allows patients to access medical services remotely via digital technology.
