Bryan Shapiro, MD

Dr. Shapiro is a board-certified psychiatrist residing in Orange County, CA. He holds an academic position at UC Irvine Medical Center, where he serves as a consultation-liaison psychiatrist and treats outpatients. He also the Director of Psychopharmacology for the UC Irvine/UC Davis Train New Trainers (TNT program) where he coaches primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and psychiatric residents on responsible prescribing of psychiatric medications.

As a psychiatric resident, Dr. Shapiro was involved in the original conceptualization on hyperbolic tapering of antidepressants driven by his own lived experience with antidepressant withdrawal. He has presented at numerous conferences on how to taper antidepressants effectively and has published over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. Today, Dr. Shapiro functions as Outro’s Medical Director and is dedicated to the mission of helping patients safely and successfully taper their antidepressants and fully restore their quality of life.
